About the Pain Clinic
Patients with chronic pain conditions and cancer pain may be referred to the Pain Clinic. Typical complaints include: neck pain, back pain, headache, nerve pain such as trigeminal neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy, herpetic neuralgia, persistent post injury pain, post-surgical pain and pelvic pain.
Current Positions
Dean, Faculty of Pain Medicine; Medical Director and Consultant in Pain Medicine; Department of Pain Medicine, St. James Hospital, Dublin; and Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin. Primary Investigator Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience.
Experience
Graduated RCSI 1988. Trained in Ireland, Birmingham UK, Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm and Lund University Hospital, Lund, Sweden. Established Multidisciplinary Pain Service at St. James Hospital, Dublin.
Research Interests
Spinal neuronal inflammatory responses in man.
Mechanism of chronic pain in man.
